Tipton Structural Fabrication, Inc is a fabrication facility of structural steel and miscellaneous metals which include beams and columns, metal stairs, railings, and ladders for the construction industry. Some of our projects include: U of I Kinnick Stadium North Stands in Iowa City, PCI Medical Pavilion II in Cedar Rapids and Tyson’s Material Handling Expansion in Waterloo. We have immediate openings for Full Time and Part Time Welders at our Tipton location. Welder Duties: Weld and fabricate parts using a variety of techniques and materials according to blueprints. Cut material using a cutting torch and drill holes required for fabrication. Move/handle material to stands using forklift. Review blueprints check measurements and alignments, weld beams and columns. Finish assembling and welding parts, including torch cuts and grinding. Verify parts code and stamp parts. Complete documentation. Welder Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent. 1+ year welding experience preferred. Welding certificate or ability to complete certificate within 6 months of employment. Demonstrated ability to read blueprints and other documentation. In addition to basic math skills, must be comfortable computing fractions and decimals. Computer experience. Stand 8hrs/day and ability to lift/or move up to 50lbs. Commitment to process and quality improvement; and teamwork. Valid Driver’s license.
